Clara McGinnis has been painting and studying art for most of her life. She began as a watercolorist and now primarily paints in oils. While her goal is to achieve a quality of art like that of the old masters and learn their techniques in rendering beautiful paintings, she also sees it as important to offer her own unique style.
Most of Clara's art is realism and is inspired by photographs or Plein air studies. Her goal is to express her worldview and make every painting filled with meaning and beauty.
As a Christian, Clara is inspired to create art as a witness to others of God's awesome majesty as well as His character and the reality that we live in. Because she feels urged to bring glory to God, she is excited to endeavor in the journey of constantly improving technique, quality, and meaning in her paintings.
Western themed art is Clara's passion. She loves the history that is involved in a western painting. However, most of Clara's western paintings are pieces of art depicting her current times. Although the farmer who still using mules to till the ground is hard to find, she wants people to know that these "dying arts" are still around.
